1. Spectral variation with distance in water
Figure 2 shows the variation in (

with distance
in water for the 30 kV, 40 kV and 50 kV beams.
2. Dose distributions
A comparison of dose fall-off with distance from the In-
trabeam source calculated with the primary beam and Monte
Carlo models with measured values is provided in Fig. 3.
Note that these results are shown with a logarithmic dose
axis. Measured results have been corrected for variation of

en
/
)
w/air
with depth
共as derived from the Monte Carlo
simulation
兲.
3. Tissue equivalence
Monte Carlo derived results for the dosimetric equiva-
lence of breast and water for the three x-ray beams are
shown in Fig. 4. The figure shows the ratio of the distance in
breast tissue from the Intrabeam source to the distance in
water corresponding to the equivalent dose fall-off.
