Lesson 2
Module 2
What you want for your work is global visibility, and to have
that you need to have a publishing
partner able to provide
worldwide marketing distribution, a trusted brand; you need a
publisher that has very high quality in
its overall list of books
and journals, and also,
3
for those journals you are looking for,
a high impact factor, if possible. Just to be clear,
the impact
factor is defined as the average number of citations received
per paper published in a journal during the two preceding
years, and this varies considerably from field to field.
So, the points to consider when publishing a journal article
are,
firstly , of course, selecting the right journal – and the
earlier you can do that the better, because it will influence
the style that you use when you write. Secondly ,
each journal
will have a different intended readership, so it’s important to
make sure that
1
what you are
writing matches the aim and
scope of the journals. You might also want to consider
5
the
editorial decision time – how long the journal takes to make
up their mind to decide whether to publish your work or not.
And finally , you want to
choose the journal that has
3
a good
impact factor – the leading journal in your field.
