Audioscript 28 Teacher: Once I was asked the question: Is there any conflict between formal education and new trends? Well, there is, definitely. My PhD dissertation was about teachers feeling very lonely because in formal education you’re very limited. I mean, the whole thing limits you, both teacher and students, but also the students, because you’re forced to do things in a certain way. Actually, I did my PhD almost fully online and I learnt a lot about learning with the aid of technology because it really does open a lot of opportunities for you. Even now nobody uses technology in my school. Ah, it’s not used very extensively around the globe either. Well, there are a lot of teachers around the world, English language teachers in particular, who use technology, but in some cases their universities still do not approve. So, actually, we’re talking about, ah, quite an amazing fact: 20 years have passed but nothing has changed! Technology is there, it’s used, but it is not yet fully accepted. |
