Teacher: I’d like to report on the changes that have taken place 
in the department I work for.
Over the last few years the department has introduced some 
radical changes in order to meet a growing demand for the 
internationalisation of higher education. For example, the 
department is seeking more partnerships with European 
universities. The collaboration with French, Finnish and 
Bulgarian universities has resulted in dual bachelor’s degree 
programmes in International Business and International 
Tourism. Currently, we are negotiating a joint master’s degree 
course in International Business and Governance with four 
Italian universities. Another change worth mentioning is an 
increasing number of online courses. 
We really think that all this will facilitate student mobility 
and attract more overseas students. As a response to this 
challenging aim, we have already started offering some 
courses in English. About 20 foreign students are enrolled in 
the European Studies programme. However, not all lecturers 
are competent enough in English to teach their subject 
matter to international students. That is why there is a need 
to improve academics’ English language skills.
In conclusion, we think the changes that have been brought 
in may enhance the university’s standing in international 
rankings.
