Plan of the lesson

When we face teaching?
Giving information about teaching speaking to the students.




Lesson objectives

- Students will identify and name different countries around the world.
- Students will learn basic information about each country, such as capital and language.
- Students will practice speaking, listening, and asking questions in order to gather information and share their knowledge about countries.
- Students will expand their vocabulary related to countries and culture.

Lesson materials

- World map poster or globe.
- Pictures of different countries or flags
- Flashcards with country names, capitals, and languages
- Blank world map handout
- Whiteboard and markers
- Objectives and vocabulary handouts

Teaching methods

Discussion, warm-up, integrated activities

Whiteboard, lap top, projector, you tube video, audio tracks

Procedure:




Pre-speaking stage:

Objectives

Introduction:
1.Greet the students and introduce the topic by showing them a world map or globe. Ask them if they know what a country is and name a few examples.
2. Write the objectives on the board or read them aloud to the class.
3.Give each student a copy of the vocabulary and objectives handouts to keep in their notebooks.

This task aims to
1. activate prior world knowledge and relevant content schemata (related to target culture awareness)

While-speaking stage:
1.Show pictures of different countries or flags one by one and ask the students if they know the name of it. Write the name on the board and ask if any student knows any information about that country.
2. Introduce the flashcards with country names, capitals, and languages. Practice saying the names and asking the students to repeat after you. Play a memory game with the flashcards by showing them briefly and asking the students to name the country or the capital.
3. Create pairs or small groups and give each group a blank world map handout. Explain that they have to fill in the map with the names of the countries they remember and their corresponding capitals. They can use the flashcards and the whiteboard as a reference. After a few minutes, call them to share their maps with the class and ask questions to each other about their choices.
4.Ask each student to choose one country they like or would like to visit someday. Ask them to create a small poster or drawing to represent that country, including the flag, the capital, and some characteristic elements of that culture (such as food, music or famous landmarks). They will present their posters or drawings to the class and explain why they chose that country.


Post speaking stage:
1. Review the vocabulary and the information learned during the lesson. Ask the students if they have any questions or doubts.
2. Give them a few minutes to practice asking and answering questions in groups, using the country flashcards and the whiteboard as prompts.
3. Thank the students for their participation and encourage them to continue learning about countries and cultures.
