General House rule of hotel Safety Lockers

1. 
   Safety lockers are allotted only to room guest.
   
2. 
   Hotels may ask the guest to declare the valuables to be kept in safety lockers for the security purposes of the hotel.
   
3. 
   One safety lockers is assigned to one guest or a family.
   
4. 
   The hotel will take sufficient care of the safety lockers but will not be responsible for any loss, theft, shortage, spoilage of the items inside these lockers which is used by the guest exclusively.
   
5. 
   The hotel may or may not charge certain amount of fees for availing the safety lockers facility as per hotel’s policy. Hotel will also charge from the guest for any damage done to the safety lockers or loose safety lockers key.
   

Key control

• 
  One of the reception’s important jobs have been issuing room keys to the guests and then take them back for safe keeping when the guests went out.
  
• 
  The keys had a large and heavy tags attached to them to stop guests from walking off with them
  
• 
  The tags were numbered so that the keys could be hung on a “Key rack” when not in use. The key rack is usually situated behind the desk.
  
• 
  The old fashioned metal key was a security risk. Guest often missed them.
  
• 
  Thus the modern hotels started using electronic keys as a solution to the problem. These keys were made of plastic and punched or magnetically coded with the door code.
  
• 
  These keys do not have the room number printed on them, so the guest has to be given as additional key card showing this.
  
• 
  So, the guest has to keep this card separate from the electronic room key in case the latter is stolen.
  
• 
  The room lock is programmed to accept only the code on the electronic key, which is changed every time the room is let.
