H. SAY and TELL

say – кучирма гаплардан аввал хам кейин хам жойлаштирилиши мумкин:

Tom said, “I’ve just heard the news”. ёки

“I’ve just heard the news”, Tom said.
Бош гап кучирма гапдан кейин келса, эга билан кесим урнини алмаштириш мумкин:

“I’ve just heard the news”, said Tom.

say + to + person

сузловчининг кимга гапираётганлигини курсатади

“I am living at once”, Tom said to me.
tell – сузловчини кимга гапиралаётганлигини курсатишни талаб килади, яъни:

tell + person

“I am leaving at once”, Tom told me.

He said he had just heard the news.

He told me that he had just heard the news.
NOTE:

tell + a lie Martha is always telling lies.

a story Gather around, children, your grandfather will tell you a story.

the truth Clearly, Mark should tell the police the truth.

a secret Don’t tell anyone the secret about the Jerome Clifford.

a joke Did I tell you the joke about the chicken crossing the road?

(the) time Could you tell me the time please?
