CLASSIFICATION OF BIRD NAMES IN “KUTADGU BILIG”

Annotation. It’s no secret to all of us that the Uzbek people are rich in cultural heritage
from time immemorial. How many scientists, great thinkers were born in this ancient land. In
this regard, it is appropriate to mention the name of our great ancestor Yusuf Khos Hajib, who
made an incomparable contribution to our cultural heritage. Yusuf Khos Hajib is a scientist who
has made a worthy contribution not only to Uzbek national culture, but also to the development
of world civilization. He left us a very valuable cultural heritage through his work "Kutadgu
Bilig". This work is an artistic product of its time. During the reading of the work, we come
across unrepeatable, artistically-aesthetically, educationally-morally saturated stanzas. Of
course, such verses invite many readers to analyze. This article provides detailed information
about bird names, species, and etymology in the work "Kutadgu bilig". In addition, the names of
the birds in the work and their semantic-functional characteristics are highlighted, and their role
in illuminating the essence of the reality depicted in the work is revealed. It is worth noting that
the above-mentioned aspects were studied on the basis of an explanatory dictionary.
