Hydrology as a science

STAGES OF FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF HYDROLOGY
The first ideas about hydrology appeared in ancient Egypt 6000 years ago. The celebration of the 300th anniversary of scientific hydrology in 1974 at the suggestion of the international organization - UNESCO (United Nations Committee on Education, Science and Culture) is proof of the above. The beginning of this date is the date of publication of P. Perro's book "On the Origin of Water Sources" - 1674.
The term "hydrology" was first used in the late seventeenth century, more precisely in 1694, in the book "Three-Part Hydrology" by the German scientist E. Milchior.
At present, regular scientific conferences are organized in the Republic and abroad in order to summarize the work done on hydrological research and determine the direction of future research. Thanks to independence, Uzbek scientists and specialists have become active participants not only in the former Soviet Union, but also around the world.

THE IMPORTANCE OF WATER IN NATURE AND HUMAN LIFE
Nothing can replace water in agriculture and industry. For example, 1,500 tons of water is required for each ton of wheat, 4,000 tons for 1 ton of rice, and up to 10,000 tons of water for growing 1 ton of cotton fiber. The industry requires 1-2 tons of water for the production of 1 ton of bricks, 3 tons for the production of 1 ton of coal, and 250-300 tons for the production of 1 ton of steel or paper. Up to 4000 t of water is required for the production of 1 ton of synthetic fiber. While 10 t of water is used to make 1 ton of yarn, 3000 t of water is required to make 1 ton of fabric from some synthetic fibers.
Water bodies are also important for defense purposes. Because most of the borders of the countries pass through rivers and seas. Careful study of the hydrography and water regime of these water bodies is required to keep them alert.
