SCIENTISTS IN HYDROLOGY
Ahmad al-Farghani was well- versed in water science, rather than other sciences. He was entrusted with the construction of the most perfect water-measuring facility on the Nile, the Nilometer (see Nilometer). Among the manuscripts of the tenth century, the unknown book "The Book of the Territory of the World from East to West" has abundant source of information on hydrology and hydrography.
Al-Kharezmi in his book "Kitabu surat al-arz" gives more detailed information about the Atlantic, Indian Oceans, seas, rivers and springs.
The hydrological data in the works of Abu Raykhan Beruni can be divided into two groups. The first of them describes the knowledge of the oceans, seas, bays. This knowledge was recognized by European scholars as "Beruni's theory of the seas." The second group describes the scientist's scientific views on terrestrial waters - rivers, streams, springs, lakes, snow, glaciers, swamps and even groundwater.

RESEARCH METHODS
In hydrology, research methods such as stationary, expeditionary and experimental-laboratory are used. In the stationary method, the elements of the hydrological regime of water bodies are monitored regularly over the years.
In the rivers, lakes, reservoirs and glaciers of the country, this work is carried out mainly at the hydrological stations and posts of the Center for Hydrometeorological Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet).
In the expedition method, water bodies in a particular area are studied in a field setting in general or for a specific purpose. Every year, special expeditions are organized in the system of Uzhydromet, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, the Academy of Sciences and other network institutions.
The experimental-laboratory method allows to determine the natural and chemical properties of water, to study hydrodynamic phenomena and other processes under modeling conditions. The experiments are carried out in laboratories equipped with special equipment and devices.
