Before the exam

a. Practice reading

- Read as much as you can before the exam, including:

- General interest magazines (Time Magazine, Newsweek).

- Scientific magazines.

- Academic journals.

- Academic course books.

- Feature articles from newspapers.

- Book chapters.

- Articles on the internet.

b. How to read

- Do not try to understand every word.

- Do not use a dictionary.

- Try to understand the context of what you are reading (who, what why etc.)

- Think about the main idea before you try to understand the details.

- Try to increase your reading speed.

- Underline keywords to help you remember important information, such as

dates and names.

- Use pictures and headings to try to guess the meaning and main ideas of the

passages.
