COPENHAGEN, April 20 (Reuters) - Danish airport authorities briefly quarantined a Singapore Airlines flight on Thursday over fears a passenger might have birdflu, but everyone on board was allowed to disembark after it proved to be a false alarm.

Danish media quoted airport police saying the captain of the flight from Singapore radioed ahead to say a 31-year-old Swedish woman had symptoms consistent with the virus. On landing, the plane was escorted to an isolated part of the airfield. The 275 passengers and 20 crew members had to remain aboard while doctors examined the sick woman, who had been holidaying in Thailand. She was found to have a simple stomach ailment. Bird flu has killed about 110 people worldwide and has now infected birds across Europe, including in Denmark. But while four people have died of the disease in Turkey, there have so far been no cases of human infection in Western Europe.
