Goals and tasks of the work. The following are the goals and objectives of the theme of architecture in the khanates of Central Asia (the beginning of 16-20th century):

– to study the political, economic, social and cultural situation in the khanates of Central Asia at the beginning of 16^th 20^th centuries, and to show created conditions for the development of architecture;

– to determine the general and specific characteristics of the architectural traditions in the khanates of Central Asia ;

– the study and comparative analysis of architectural monuments in the period of the khanate of Bukhara (further called Bukhara Emirate);

– the research and analysis of architectural structures which were built in the period of the khanate of Khiva;

– the study and to show the originality of the architectural monuments which were built in the period of the khanate of Kokand;

– to determine the extent of compliance of construction traditions which has been continuing in the architecture during the khanates’ period;

– the study and analysis of the process related to the usage of “European” styles and new traditions which entered the architecture of khanates at the beginning of 19^th - and at the end of 20^th century by the Invasion of the Russian Empire;

– to give conclusion after studying the methods related to architecture in the khanates of Central Asia, raw materials used in construction, specific characteristics of monuments design.
