Now we are going to study very significant concepts in linguistics that have changed the direction / expanded the area of linguistics. Historical approach and contemporary approach to the study of language are two major approaches in Linguistics. Before that let us know whether there is any contribution in Linguistics by India scholars. certainly Ancient Indian Scholars have studied language / linguistics and there is a tradition of Indian Lingusitics which was discontinued, may be for various reason.
