Where to start and how to finish

Work on the article consists of several steps.

Theme selection

It can be suggested by life itself (what happened extraordinary event that needs to be understood). Or a conscious appeal to a question of interest to the audience, but not yet covered by others. In the age of the Internet for this purpose, you can analyze search engines and follow the topics of blogs. Main requirement: the theme should be new, important, exciting.

Fact finding

The basics of journalism dictate the rule - not to be limited to one source in search of facts, figures, information on the chosen topic. Use your own experience. Not all facts will be included in the final material, but the topic should be studied as fully as possible.

Material analysis

Don’t put all the facts in the article. They are divided into those that will necessarily be included in the article, and those that are needed for a full study of the issue. You don’t have to spread the facts all over the material. It is better to group the same type and give blocks.

Plan writing

You can write down sections on paper, you can draft theses or keep the logic of construction in mind, but the plan must be necessary. That’s half the story. A competent, detailed plan will help write a proper article. And it’s not difficult to translate items into subtitles.
The author should answer the questions: what will the article be about, what is its essence for whom it is written, what is new and important will be communicated to readers? The plan reflects the opinions, opinions, arguments and conclusions of the writer. Well, if it reminds of the «inverted pyramid», when the most important facts and judgments are presented in the introduction, and then there is argumentation. Or, on the contrary, facts, observations, the basic idea are first revealed, and then a conclusion is drawn from them.

Drafting

No novice journalist can do without it. There may be several drafts. All right. When typing on the computer, do not delete the paragraphs you did not like. Sometimes they come back. Don’t tear up the paper drafts either. Discard all unnecessary after the final article.

Finishing of written

It takes time to see the flaws and make corrections. Check grammar, spelling, punctuation, logic of presentation, relationship between sentences, quotations, surnames.
