Communicative phraseological units are represented by proverbs and sayings. Proverb is a fixed phrase, metaphorical statement that illustrates a lesson of behavior. A saying is any common, colloquial expression or a remark often made.

Proverbs express full finite meaning and saying is a phrase which expresses figurative meaning. Proverbs express wise and complete idea while sayings express the description of something but don’t give complete meanings.
