Sport in Uzbekistan is one of the elements of Uzbek culture . Professional and amateur sports are practiced in Uzbekistan ; amateur sports are closely related to the concept of physical education .
Regulation of the sports sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan is carried out by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan . Sport is interconnected with tourism. Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, will host the 2025 Asian Youth Games. ^[1]

The main goals and objectives of the development of sports in Uzbekistan are to bring the young generation to a healthy adulthood, to encourage and develop folk games and sports on a global scale, and to actively involve the widest strata of the population in the movement of physical education.
Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, regardless of gender, race, nationality, language, religion, social origin, belief, personal and social status, engage in physical education and sports, organize physical education and sports public associations, establish physical education and sports associations , has the right to participate in the organization of educational and sports associations. Management of physical education and sports, foreign citizens and stateless persons have equal rights with citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of physical education and sports.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a state body in the field of culture and sports, which is entrusted with the implementation of the goals and tasks of the state policy in the field of physical education and sports.

Football is the most popular sport in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan Super League is the highest football league in Uzbekistan, in which 14 teams will participate since 2019. The current champions are the "Pakhtakor" club of Tashkent, and the team with the most championship titles is the "Pakhtakor" team of Tashkent with 15 championships. The best player of 2023 is Jamshid Iskanderov .
The most successful football clubs in Uzbekistan are Bunyodkor , Pakhtakor , Neftchi and Nasaf . In 2011, Nasaf won the AFC Cup and became the first Uzbek team to win the international club cup. Uzbek clubs participated in the now defunct, previously held annual CIS Cup. ^[2]
The U-16 national team of Uzbekistan won the U-16 Asian Championship in 2012. In 2018, the Uzbekistan U-23 national team became the champion at the U-23 Asian Championship hosted by China. The best achievement of the Uzbekistan national team in the Asian Cup was the fourth place in the 2011 Asian Cup. ^[3] [4]
Ravshan Ermatov was named the best referee of Asia for four consecutive years (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014). At the 2015 Globe Soccer Awards, he was awarded as the best referee of the year.

The national sport in Uzbekistan is wrestling. According to the IKA (International Wrestling Association) website, Kurash is an Uzbek word that means "to achieve the goal in the most fair and just way." It is a wrestling sport where two competitors fight to dominate each other. The winner is the one who throws the opponent to the ground with his back. This can only be achieved by using the upper body, no kicks or punches. Attacks on the legs are also prohibited. It is a sport characterized by the use of will and human power to achieve victory.
