Uzbekistan was a part of the strong national basketball team of the former Soviet Union. After the disbandment of the team, Uzbekistan established its own team, which enjoyed moderate success between the mid-90s and mid-2000s. His best finish at the Asian Games was 9th place, and his best finish at the Asian Championships was 7th place.

He was part of the Soviet Union national hockey team of Uzbekistan.
"Humo Tashkent" professional hockey team was founded in 2019, with the goal of joining the Continental Hockey League (KHL), which is a major Eurasian league in the future. Humo will join the second-tier High Hockey League (VHL) for the 2019-20 season. Humo plays its games in the Humo Ice Dome, which costs more than 175 million euros; both the team and the arena are named after the legendary bird Huma, a symbol of happiness and freedom. [7]
"Humo Tashkent" was a member of the reformed Hockey League of Uzbekistan, which started playing in February 2019. UIHL consists of three more teams: "Binokor Tashkent", "HK Tashkent" and "Semurg Tashkent", and all teams play in the Humo Ice Palace. [8] "Semurg" became the champion in the playoffs. [9]
Currently, Uzbekistan does not have a national hockey team, but in 1986, during the Soviet Union, the Uzbekistan national hockey team was formed and played one game against the Latvian national team.
The Hockey Federation of Uzbekistan (UHF) has started preparations to join the IIHF as a member and to form a national hockey team that will participate in the IIHF competitions. [10]

Jamoliddin Abdujaparov (Tashkent, February 28, 1964) was the most famous cyclist in his country in 1990 and 1997, having 54 victories. Before turning to professional cycling, Abdujaparov excelled in the lower categories and became the road champion of the Soviet Union. He took 5th place in the road test at the 1988 Olympic Games. Excellent sprinter, stage win in three Grand Tours, 7 in Tour of Spain, 1 in Giro d'Italia. 9 in the Tour de France. He also achieved the points classification of the Vuelta (1992), Giro (1994) and Tour (1991, 1993 and 1994). He was known for his aggressive sprinting style and extreme handling of his bike, which resulted in several enemies and several crashes in the peloton.

Since independence, both men and women have produced players who have reached the level of several tournaments, and for men, Oleg Ogorodov, who was active in the 1990s and 2000s, became the first athlete of Uzbek nationality to participate in the singles competition between men and women of the "Big Dubulga" category. Denis Istomin, known as the country's first international tennis player to emerge after Ogorodov retired in the mid-2000s, became the first Uzbek to reach the fourth round of the men's singles at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships. Asia, he far exceeded Ogorodov and was active. [15] [16]

Since the independence of Uzbekistan in 1991, success in the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics has been increasing. Uzbekistan took part in the Summer Olympic Games four times and won one gold and five bronze medals in boxing, two gold and two silver medals in wrestling, and a silver medal in judo. Uzbekistan's only medal at the Winter Olympics was a gold medal in cross-country skiing in 1994. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Ruslan Nurudinov lifted a total of 431 kilograms in the men's 105-kilogram weight category and 237 kilograms in the deadlift, winning the Olympic record.
Uzbek athletes were particularly successful at the 2021 Olympic Games held in Tokyo. Our country won three gold medals: Ulugbek Rashitov in taekwondo, Akbar Jorayev in weightlifting and Bahadir Jalolov in boxing . [18] Uzbek gymnast Oksana Chusovitina also participated in the 8th Olympiad under the flag of Uzbekistan at this event. [19]
