Agrotechnology of cherry (Prunus avium L.) cultivation 
Cherries are a juicy, dense, pleasant food that contains 13-27% of sugar. Cherries are more 
resistant to diseases and pests than other fruit trees, however, it is mainly them that can be damaged by 
birds (40–60%). Cherries are also frost-resistant fruit and can withstand temperatures down to -28 
degrees. It is advisable to plant the best varieties of cherries in Uzbekistan. Cherries are very demanding 
to soil climatic conditions: they grow well in fertile soils and can adapt well to gravelly soils. Cannot 
adapt to saline, excess moisture or lack of moisture. The gravel layer grows slowly and weakly on the 
surface. Cherries do not require much moisture, but rain during the ripening period of their fruits causes 
them to crack. Fruit cherry tree begins to bear fruit after 5–6 years. 
The yield of cherries depends on the number of twigs in the shoot and their survival. 20-30% on 
the growing branches, 70-80% on the twigs. As the cherries age, the crop is collected in twigs. 
Cherries bloom in early April, early varieties ripen in early May, and in some cases in late April.

The vegetation period lasts 240-250 days.
It is not recommended to plant the same cherry varieties in the gardens. Because in such cases, 
the chances of getting a high yield are reduced. Therefore it is necessary to plant pollinating varieties 
between them. In order to get a permanent abundant harvest from cherries, it is necessary to select 
varieties that bloom at the same time. Black cherries, Spring, Francis, Ramon Oliva, Drogona joltaya, 
Yellow cherries, Black Napoleon, Napoleon roses are the most valuable pollinating varieties. Cherries 
are a long-lived plant, and some cherry trees can live up to 80-100 years.
