It means that politeness is used in classroom interaction in order to build good relationship among teachers and students. To sum up, in the English-speaking culture and the Western world in generalpoliteness has been closely related to the behavior typical of a certain social location and a certain social group. To be polite, means to live up to a set of conventionalized norms of behavior.
