source of communication
Introduction
Communication is an essential aspect of our everyday lives. It is through communication that we are
able to interact with each other, express our thoughts and ideas, and form connections and relationships.
However, the way in which we communicate has evolved over time. In the past, communication involved
face-to-face interactions or handwritten letters. But with the advent of technology, communication has
become faster and more efficient. Today, we have a wide range of sources of communication available
to us, from telephones to social media platforms. In this essay, we will explore the different sources of
communication available to us, their advantages and disadvantages, and their impact on our society. By
doing so, we hope to gain a better understanding of how communication has shaped our world today.
A. Definition of communication
Communication is a complex concept that has been interpreted and analyzed from different perspectives
by numerous scholars. Brooks and Heath (1993) define communication as the process by which we
transmit information, ideas, attitudes, and emotions between individuals or groups with the purpose of
creating shared meaning. Communication involves both verbal and nonverbal elements, including words,
gestures, body language, and tone of voice. This process is not only a one-way transference of information
but also an exchange in which feedback is given and received. Thus, it is essential to remember that
communication is not only the transmission of a message but also the interpretation of that message
by the receiver. Additionally, the source of communication varies from person to person and context
to context. It can originate from various mediums such as books, newspapers, television, radio, and
social media, among others. The successful transmission and reception of messages is crucial to effective
communication.
