Hawaii is the largest island in the United States, located in the state of Hawaii. It is the southeasternmost of the Hawaiian Islands, a chain of volcanic islands in the North Pacific Ocean. With an area of 4,028 square miles (10,430 km2), it has 63% of the Hawaiian archipelago's combined landmass. However, it has only 13% of Hawaiʻi's population. The island of Hawaiʻi is the third largest island in Polynesia, behind the two main islands of New Zealand. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii_(island). The island is often referred to as the Island of Hawaiʻi or Hawaiʻi Island to distinguish it from the state. It is also referred to as the Big Island. Administratively, the island is coextensive with Hawaii County. Chapter 2: The components of tourism Paragraph 2.1 There are five major components of tourism, each with their own core-components. These are: tourist destination, travel services, infrastructure, conferences and events, attractions and tourism services. There are many components of tourism that make up the industry. Core components • Destination • Attractions • Infrastructure & Superstructure • Tourists • Hosts Service Components • Transportation • Accommodation • Food & Beverage • Entertainment & Recreational Organisations • Travel Intermediaries Government • Ancillary Service Organisations • Other Service Providers (Destination)refers to the location or area where the infrastructure, facilities, and service providers are coordinated to produce a tourist activity which combines special natural elements resources available on land and at sea amenities, beaches, water, and picturesque,radiance, marine biodiversity, cultural variety, and historical background, wholesome fare, and good infrastructure. (Atraction)Cooper (2020) asserts that while categorizing attractions is helpful, we must also acknowledge that many times a mix of attractions is what encourages a visit to a specific location. 1.Natural attractions(beaches ,lakes) 2.Man-made attractions(castles,Historic houses)3.Man-made and purpose -built attractions(parks,museums)4.event attractions(concerts,festivals). (Infrastructure )The fundamental amenities that are accessible to the locals at the destination, such as transportation options, lodging, internet and telecommunications systems, (superstructure)In order to boost the appeal of a site to tourists, superstructure must be built there. Numerous locations built superstructures as their own tourism draws, including airports, terminals, luxury hotels. (Tourists)A tourist is a person who travels to a location for fun and leisure, particularly while they are on vacation. Marketing activities; it is crucial to create all marketing initiatives with a purpose to draw in the right kind of visitor to the person destination.
