2.2.Reception of duty.
Before going on duty, the compiler is required to undergo ongoing instruction on labor protection and sign the log from the station managers at a planning meeting.
Before going on duty, the compiler must familiarize himself with the presence and location of rolling stock on the tracks of his shunting area, check the reliability of its securing in accordance with the station's TPA, instructions for shunting work on a particular access track and cargo yard. Make sure that the securing means installed for the shunting area are available, report the results of the check to the DSC, DSP, DSPG, depending on the shunting area served.
When accepting duty, the compiler is obliged to accept, in accordance with the procedure established at the station, strict accounting equipment - a portable radio set, brake shoes on the shunting locomotive, as well as brake shoes (depending on the shunting area served).

2.3 Responsibilities of the compiler during duty.
The train designer must receive orders for shunting work only from one person in charge of maneuvers in a given area of the station (DSC, DSP, DSPG). The train compiler must convey the received task to each employee involved.
Before starting shunting work, the train compiler is obliged to:
- make sure that all workers participating in maneuvers, including the driver of the shunting locomotive, are fully present and in their places;
- familiarize the driver and station workers participating in the maneuvers with the plan of upcoming maneuvers and the order of their implementation. If during the process of maneuvers the planned plan for their implementation changes for some reason, then the train planner must familiarize all workers participating in the maneuvers in advance with the nature of these changes;
-check that there are no obstacles to the movement of the cars (presence of brake shoes under the cars, foreign objects, etc.) and that the automatic coupler levers are set to the normal position:
- the compiler is obliged to check the reliability of radio communication with the driver, as well as with the DSC, DSP, DSPG;
- when in the area established by the TPA station, the radio communication is unstable, the train compiler must maintain contact with the driver of the shunting locomotive using manual and sound signals. If necessary, other station employees should be involved in transmitting signals;
-transmit signals and instructions regarding shunting movements clearly and in a timely manner, in accordance with the negotiation regulations;
- monitor the timely preparation of switches for shunting movements, timely and correct submission of signals or instructions to the fleet duty officer (DSPP), RSDV, shunting locomotive driver, etc.;
- be in a place that provides better visibility of the maneuvering train;
- when performing maneuvers with long trains on curved sections of the track or in poor visibility conditions (fog, snowstorm, snowfall, etc.), take additional measures to ensure safety - do not stay on the car, but follow next to it, be vigilant special attention to signals on arrows included in the route, the presence of people and foreign objects on the tracks, more often transmit signals and instructions via radio or two-way park communication, involve station workers to transmit signals from DSPP, RSDV and other stations;
- do not allow rolling stock to pass along the cut switch until it is inspected and repaired;
- before approaching the train, make sure that there are no fencing signals, do not allow cars to be left unsecured or secured less than established in the TPA station, instructions for performing shunting work on a particular access track, instructions for performing maneuvers in the cargo yard, standards regardless from the expected parking time of these cars;
- do not allow shunting trains to move (locomotive forward or wagons forward) without making sure that all wagons are coupled to each other and to the locomotive;
- when performing maneuvers to unload cars on the track, take measures to prevent the possibility of cars going beyond the limit column at the opposite end of the track;
- if, when pushing trains onto a hill, the release levers are set to the “buffer” position due to operating conditions, then after separating the release from the train, immediately return the levers to the normal position;
- when a shunting locomotive (single or with cars) enters a particular track occupied by cars to uncouple or couple other cars, as well as when compressing standing cars for uncoupling, do not allow these operations to be performed without making sure that the cars are securely fastened on the opposite side of the shunting locomotive ;
- if additional cars are attached to a group of cars standing on a particular track, including those secured according to the established norm, check whether as a result of this the correct installation of the previously laid shoes has not been disrupted, and also whether these shoes are sufficient for the increased number of cars;
- when moving cars forward, if the driver does not see the signals given to him about the readiness of the route or the indications of the shunting traffic light, the train director must give a signal about the start of movement with the upcoming departure to the switches only after receiving a signal (message) from the DSC, DSP, DSPG (in depending on the shunting area served), about the readiness of the route for shunting movement or making sure that the shunting traffic light is in the open position;
- before uncoupling the shunting locomotive from the cars or when leaving the cars on the tracks, the train compiler must ensure that they stop within the boundaries indicated by the limit posts, and secure from leaving in accordance with the procedure established in the TPA station, instructions for shunting work in the freight yard and on the access tracks;
- during maneuvers in places where repair crews work (track, signaling, power supply), on station tracks, on the territory of access roads, cargo yard, etc. The train compiler must be especially vigilant, sound signals in a timely manner when the train approaches people near the track, and also warn about the movement of the train to people working on loading, unloading, repairing the track, wagons, etc.
