The sentences shown in Table 6 (from the author’s personal translation 
archive) provide examples of Iconic Linkage introduced during translation 
and are taken from a user guide for a food packaging machine and its ac-
companying software. They illustrate how non-isomorphic but semantically 
identical sentences in a source text can be rendered with Iconic Linkage in 
the target text. The various sentences have been analysed using the Trados 
Translator’s Workbench translation memory tool to illustrate the apparent 
match between sentences based on surface characteristics.
