V. Glossary
Narrative writing – it is a type of writing when the author or writer narrates the story. The story can be fiction and nonfiction as well.
Descriptive writing – it is a style of writing about describing a person, a thing, a place or an event in detail. Descriptive writing is expressive type of writing, as it uses five senses as sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste to express author’s feelings about the object.
Expository writing – it is one of the most common types of writing styles, the main focus of which is on facts about a topic, including statistics or other evidence.
Persuasive writing – it is a type of writing style which contains the opinions, biasness, justifications and reasons of the author with the aim of convincing the readers to believe in what the author believes in.
An op-ed – short for "opposite the editorial page" or as a backronym the "opinions and editorials page", is a written prose piece typically published by a newspaper or magazine which expresses the opinion of an author usually not affiliated with the publication's editorial board.
How-to – a practical method or instruction the how-tos of balancing a checkbook also: something (such as a book) that provides such instruction.
Textbook – a book used as a standard work for the study of a particular subject.
