Teaching writing on the topic of Theatres for the pre intermediate
§ 1.2. Process approach model
Learning how to write involves developing an effective and efficient composing process. This kind of composing process in teaching writing is called process approach, which is also one of the most used approaches in writing. It is fact that in order to achieve good outcome from writing process writers should put a big effort in their works. Moreover, as a matter of fact writing is difficult task for both native and non-native speakers of English. Since writers should go through such stages of process approach in writing as follows: Pre-writing (Brainstorming) – generating ideas, strategies and finding information for a given topic of a writing task. It includes discussion, making outlines, free writing and etc. Planning (Structuring) – reflecting on the outcome created during the pre-writing stage in order to produce a plan to meet the requirements of the given task. Following the generated plan can make writing process less complex. Drafting (Writing the first draft) – starting the writing process by producing words and sentences on a computer or on paper that more or less answers the points of initial plan of the work. This stage helps beginners achieve their goals in writing activity. Peer feedback – after finishing first drafts, they are exchanged. By responding as readers to the others’ writing paper, students improve their awareness about how it is important to be able to write a text appropriate for the readers. In this way, they can improve their own works. Feedback develops the writers’ understandings of good writing. (Richards: 2003) Revising – searching for the mistakes (punctuation, spelling, subject verb agreement and style), re-seeing the text with the aim of making changes to it. The main purpose of this stage is to check whether the text suits the points of the plan. The process of revising takes place when the writer’s first draft has been returned from the peer feedback. After peer feedback it becomes clear what is not suitable and what kind of mistakes have been made. This stage facilitates the improvement of writing skills a lot. Editing (final draft) – literally means correcting the mistakes, found during the revising stage and making the final version of the paper. Publishing (Evaluation and teachers’ feedback) – this stage does not have limits only on getting the work printed. It also means sharing the finished text with the readers or in learning sphere showing it to a teacher or to other learners. Teacher provides a feedback on the student’s work, after the student’s writing is evaluated. Download 0.66 Mb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
