Objectives:

  • To improve students’ writing skills;

  • To give learners an opportunity to be able to distinguish the most common mistakes in writing;

  • To raise the awareness of students of effective writing skills;

  • To revise grammar structures used in story writing.

Lesson stages:

  1. Beginning of the lesson - Pre-stage

  2. Main part of the lesson – While-stage

    2. Giving information on story writing (main points)

  • Ask the students the following questions:

    • Have you ever written a short story?

    • If yes, what about did you write?

    • Did you write it in a free way or by following the specific structure of short story writing?

Warm up activity (4 min): Correcting spelling mistakes
Procedure:
Distribute handouts with the words which have spelling mistakes to students. Ask students to find them and tell which kind of spelling mistake there are in each word. This activity can be fulfilled in pairs or individually.
