Teaching writing on the topic of Theatres for the pre intermediate

Main part of the lesson
While-stage (30 min)
Activity one (5 min)
Continue the story: Pair work
Procedure:
Give the students handouts with uncompleted story. Ask them to continue it using imagination. In the end when they finish, ask them to read to the whole class.

This activity encourages student's usage of imagination and develop it. They are given the beginning of a story and they are required to continue it. The story should have coherent and cohesive continuation.
Giving the information on story writing (main points) (10 min)
Procedure:
Discuss with students the structure and main points of story writing.
Handouts used:



Activity two (5 min)
Put the story in order: Group work
Procedure:
Distribute the handouts with the task and ask the students to fulfill the story ordering activity. Tell them to pay attention to the chronological order of the events. In the end check it together. Discuss the mistakes made by students if any.

Activity three (10 min)
Writing a story on the topic: Individual work
Procedure:
Make up a story; story in genre of comedy, fantasy, science fiction and others. Write about 150 words. Share it with the whole class.

Assessment/Feedback (4 min)
Criteria for assessment:
Assessment: total 5 points for the lesson
5 – excellent (doing the tasks without errors, active participation, being attentive during the lesson)
4 – good (doing the tasks with 2-4 mistakes, participating almost actively, being less attentive during the lesson)
3 – satisfactory (doing the tasks with 5 or more mistakes, poor participation, not being attentive during the lesson)
Homework (1 min):
Choose one of the four given topics and write a story about yourself. Write about 150 words.
Given topics: “The happiest day in my life”, “The worst day in my life”, “Breaking through the fear” and “Strange event”.
