2.2 Comparing analysis of metaphors in “THE BLACK PRINCE”
As I mentioned above, ‘The Black Prince ’ is full of metaphors and simile that helped increase effectiveness and ease of understanding for readers. Now we will take look some of them.
“….Priscilla, though not as pretty as my mother, had been a good-looking girl, and was admired in the circle of pert half-baked undereducated youths who constituted her "social life." But Priscilla, egged on by her mother, had ambitions, and was in no hurry to settle with one of these unprepossessing candidates.
In the sentence , the writer used simile like “though not as pretty as my mother ” For the meaning ( mening onamdek go`zal ). As we know the most beautiful woman for the child in the world is his or her mother . So, the writer explained ‘it was so pretty such as it has nobody in a class of its own .
Let’s analysis next gap:
Cut long story short, Priscilla really got quite "above herself," dressing and behaving " and did eventually satisfy her ambition of penetrating in . She was house-proud: and there was eventually quite a handsome house, or "maisonette," in the "better part" of Bristol, with fine cutlery and glasses and the things which women prize. There were "dinner parties" and a big car. It was a long way from Croydon. I suspected that they lived beyond their means and that Roger was often in financial difficulties, but Priscilla never actually said so. They both very much wanted children, but were unable to produce any. Once when drunk Roger hinted that Priscilla's "operation" had done some fatal damage. I did not want to know. I could see that Priscilla was unhappy, her life was boring and empty, and Roger was not a rewarding companion.
"Our friendship is a tough plant, Bradley. Look, I just refuse to pretend that this thing hasn't happened, and I don't think you ought to either. I know people can be awful dooms for each other--"Precisely."
Roger's voice was prissy and plummy, rather loud, a pseudo-varsity voice, a public-relations voice, a public-speaking cad's voice. We went into the "lounge." (A lounge lizard's voice.) Here too all was neat, there were flowers. The sun was shining.
There are so many metaphors and we analysis ;
she was house-proud:” uyimizning faxri ya’ni bu uyda faxrlanadigan insondir
(Yozuvchi bu yaxshi qiz yoki aqlli demasdan tushuntirishni oshirish uchun metaforadan foydalangan)
her life was boring and empty, and Roger was not a rewarding companion.” Uning hayoti zerekarli bo`shliq. Roger esa mukofot beruvchi sherekmas .
Yozuvchi bu metafora orqali bir qizning hayotini bo`shliqqa o`xshatyapti . Roger esa uning hayotini toldirolmasligini aniq va ta`sirliroq tushuntirish uchun Rogerni mukofot keltiruvchi hamroh deya keltirib o`tadi. Chunki inson mukofot olganda naqadar xursand bo`lishiga qiyoslab ,bu qiz uchun Roger hayotiga mukofot beruvchi hamroh emasligini yetkazmoqchi boladi kishiga.
Now we will try to compare the queue metaphorogical unit and explain in two language .
