INTRODUCTION (abstract of DSc thesis)
The aim of the research work is to analyse the Internet media as a separate
kind of media system and a platform for multimedia journalism, to identify the
methodology of the activities of journalists in using the multimedia approach, as well
as the general patterns of practical activities of journalists in multimedia conditions.
The object of the research work is media content made in the form of
multimedia journalism as a new kind of journalism.
The scientific novelty of the research work includes the following:
studying the nature of multimedia journalism and its focus on the audience, a
special role of interactivity, immersiveness, integrativity in the development of
multimedia journalism and its manifestation in the social activities of the media was
revealed and in general, it is determined that the combination of channels, each of
which has its own pronounced specificity (print, radio, television, Internet) is the
leading condition for creating works in the form of multimedia journalism;
there were determined the qualities of longreads as a tool of multimedia
journalism in modern media environment and their conceptual, structural-linguistic
and functional features are indicated;
there were identified systemic and structural dimensions of multimedia
journalism due to the implementation of digital technologies and organizational
forms and creative methods for changing the activities of editorial offices in the
context of multimedia journalism have been determined, the conditions and
effectiveness of both single and team work of the editorial activities in the conditions
of multimedia journalism are revealed and as a result it is proved that multimedia
production is based on a chain of three stages of the creative team's activity: pre-
production (preparatory stage) - production (production stage) - post-production
(publication) stages;
in multimedia journalism the predominance of the combination of forms of
textual, sound, visual, graphic information over the flat presentation of information
and the place and role of the dynamic evolution of the plan and composition of
programs during the preparation of multimedia release are proved;
it has been proven that multimedia journalism based on interactivity gives users
the chance to become active participants in the author's concept of "subject-subject",
instead of the traditional interaction of the author and reader in the form of "subject-
object", and this new format of communication of multimedia journalism creates
conditions for audience to joint creation and works with journalists;
it has been proven that multimedia becomes part of media literacy, which is
accompanied by a sharp increase in this quality of multimedia in social media
accessible and open to all.
