Human Trafficking
It is the policy of RTI International that neither RTI nor any of its employees shall engage in, support, or promote any form of human trafficking in any country in which RTI does business. The United States government has adopted a zero tolerance policy regarding government contractors and contractor employees that engage in or support severe forms of trafficking in persons, procurement of commercial sex acts, or use of forced labor. As a government contractor, RTI is committed to compliance with the U.S. government’s zero tolerance policy. Any violation of this policy or any applicable U.S. or host country law or regulation related to human trafficking by any RTI employee may result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to, removal from the contract, reduction in benefits, removal from the host country, and/or termination of employment. Intellectual Property It is the policy of RTI to protect its intellectual property as necessary to encourage its further development and commercialization. Intellectual property is a valuable corporate asset that may be created by RTI employees while conducting research activities. For the purposes of this policy, the term “intellectual property” means all ideas, discoveries, inventions, information, data, works of authorship, and other intellectual creations of any type or character whatsoever, including, but not limited to, concepts, improvements (whether patentable or not), technical information, trade secrets, developments, know-how, methods, techniques, formulae, processes, computer programs, software, databases, and other electronic technologies. All intellectual property conceived and/or first produced by RTI employees during the course of employment by RTI (“intellectual property”) is the sole property of RTI, unless otherwise provided by contract between sponsors of research and RTI. When such property rights are created outside the scope of employment, RTI’s President has the discretion to vest the property rights in the employee. It is the employee’s responsibility to request such rights using the procedure described in RTI Policy and Procedure 1.10, which is available on RTI Insider and through the employee’s supervisor and/or Human Resources.
