ANNOTATION OF THE DISSERTATION
This master’s thesis is devoted to one of the problems of linguistics- to the analysis of the nature of the contexual meanings of phrasiological units in English and Uzbek, their linguistic properties. We know that this problem has always been the object of investigations from different points of view.
The actuality of the research work lies in the fact that though this problem has been investigated by many linguistic scholars, the relations between their elements and ways of translating phrasiological units need some corrections. It is also determined by increased interest of linguists in studying the nature of this linguistic phenomenon and to find out the characteristic features of the investigated object.
The aims and purposes of the work may be formulated in the following way and can be achieved by doing the following tasks:
a) To establish the nature of phrasiological units .
b) To analyse the existing types of phrasiological units taking into consideration their contexual meanings.
c) To define the structural-semantic features of phrasiological units in English and Uzbek.
d) To compare the translated variants of phrasiological units in both languages and work out the suitable counterparts in them.
As the object of research we have taken phrasiological units from existing dictionaries and the literary works in English and Uzbek, and the research is carried out by making use of different linguistic and statistic methods.
The theoretical and practical significance of the research may be found in the fact that the results can be used in teaching some English theoretical subjects to Uzbek and Russian students and in actual translation of English texts into Uzbek.
Investigations have been carried out on a vast language material, based on the literary variant of English.
The structure of the research work. The structure of the work is constructed to carry out the aims given above and includes an introduction, 3 chapters, a conclusion and the list of literature.
