Activity 15: Identifying Parts of a Lesson Plan

  1. Ask Mentees what the 6 steps of a lesson plan are.

    1. Write the steps as they say them and ask the purpose of each: warm-up/engage, presentation, practice, application, wrap-up/assessment, follow-up

  2. Give Mentees Handout: Identifying Parts of a Lesson Plan.

  3. Mentees read the lesson plan and fill in the missing steps.

  4. Review the answers to make sure everyone got the steps correct. Ask CCQs. For example:

    1. How is the lesson plan scaffolded?

    2. How is the warm-up engaging the students?

    3. How does the application activity show that students met the lesson objective?
