33 4) difficulties in translation Lack of Vocabulary While composing a kind of composition, essay or letter students may not be able to express his or her thoughts as they want. It can be caused by lack of vocabulary, for instance, failing to translate the necessary word or failing to produce the expected result as a result of a repetition of the words due to the ignorance or lack of knowledge of synonyms. Vocabulary is the most important aspect of writing because if learners have plenty of word-stock, they can manage to fulfill any kind of writing tasks. Needles to say, as vocabulary is divided into active and passive, not always learners have to write about what they have already known, but also they will be given unfamiliar new topics. In such cases, the teacher should allow the students to use the dictionary. Teacher should remind them to memorize and next time to use these words in the context which they look up in dictionary. Grammar Problems Obviously, grammar serves as the foundation for all skills, whether you want to write, read or listen and speak. Therefore, grammar should be well mastered. I want to mention that the more learners know grammar, the less difficulties they face, the more opportunity to succeed in their future studies. Grammatical difficulties are mostly connected with the analytic structure of the English language and with the extensive use of constructions and types of speech parts (a great variety of verb forms: gerund, infinitive, participle, types of nouns, adjectives, adverbs and prepositions etc.). Because among the great number of multiplicity the necessary or required one has to be used in the text. In this case learners must be familiar with the basic principles of English grammar. For example, students should use the preposition "for" after the verb "look" in order to mean trying to find something that you have lost, or someone who is not where they should be. Or the verb "suggest" should be followed by gerund. The teacher must find and demonstrate them to learners’ relations between native language and target language in order to help them to understand easily. Download 1.38 Mb.
