Surveyors also documented other observations throughout the various seasons of surveying 
which are of significance for avian fauna at the site. Several bird mortalities were recorded 
from what appears to be collision with the guy lines supporting the meteorological masts. All 
affected species recorded were of Least Concern status.

A number of non-avian species mortality was recorded along the existing road as victims of 
vehicular collision, including jerboa, hare, hedgehog, and lizards. While no bird mortality from 
vehicular collision was recorded, some species which may feed on the carcasses could be at 
increased risk of vehicular collision themselves.

A similarly important finding was related to livestock herding carcasses.
During the bird monitoring period, JE’s local ornithologists regularly observed the corpses of 
livestock in the territories of both, Bash and Dzhankeldy WFs. According to the local herders 
after a sharp cold snap (when the temperature dropped to -5°C and the cold lasted for a few 
days in a row) in March 2021, a large number of lambs died in both territories. 
The following table lists with the number of dead livestock from August 2020 to August 2021 
according to the data received from the herders in the Dzhankeldy WF areas.
