Finally, it is particularly important to prepare and retain accurate notes as to how
the apportionment was carried out and the reasons behind the valuer's key deci-
sions. An apportionment prepared for accounting purposes is likely to be audited
and the valuer's report will help in the audit process. Those records will also make
it easier to interpret the figures for any subsequent apportionment.
