Review of scientific researches related to the topic of dissertation. The 
problem of Theolinguistics as an independent linguistic discipline has been raised 
in the articles by D. Crystal, E. Kucharska-Dreis and A.K. Gadomsky

Studies in Theolinguistics have mainly been conducted by European and 
Russian scholars on the basis of the Christian religion and aimed at investigating 
the peculiarities of the Christian religious language and communication.
In our opinion, all these research done in the field of Theolinguistics can be 
divided into two main directions.
The first direction has been carried out in the framework of Stylistics, 
embracing studies of the religious style and religious genres: sermons, prayers, 
liturgies, religious hymns and etc

; and from the position of Communicative 
Linguistics within which scholars study discursive characteristics of the religious 
language, the language of religious books, the peculiarities of clergy and believers’ 
language

. Most works, carried out in the framework of this direction are based on 
the texts of the Bible and other Christian literature.
The second direction, which our research is based on, focuses on the study of 
the linguistic representation of the religious world picture. This direction in 
contrast to the first one is not well investigated. There are researches devoted to the 
study of some aspects of the relationships between language and religion done in 
the framework of certain linguistic fields such as Lexicology and Phraseology, 
Linguoculturology, Text Stylistics.
The aim of the research is to work out theoretical and empirical basis of the 
new linguistic trend – Theolinguistics and conduct cognitive and cultural 
interpretation of linguistic units, representing the religious world picture in the 
language.
