MAIN CONTENT OF THE DISSERTATION The introduction highlights the topicality and the novelty of the research, the aim and tasks, the object and subject of the research, used research methods, the scientific and practical value of the research, review of literature on the research topic, information about the implementation, publications, approbation and structure of the dissertation research. The first chapter «The origins of Theolinguistics. Interrelation of language, culture and religion» of the dissertation deals with various approaches to the study of the correlation between language and religion, historical connections of the triad «Language – Culture – Religion», the influence of religion on culture and the formation of Linguistics as an independent discipline, the history of Theolinguistics and its main problems. The study of language cannot be complete without taking into account mythological and religious factors, since these factors are considered to be one of the basic pillars that shape the world view and perception of different language and culture representatives. Religion, emerged as a result of the mythological reflection of reality, is one of the main forms of social consciousness. It can be evidenced by the existence of several religious macrocultures (Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu). The religious factor is the fundamental criterion for singling out these macrocultures and their systems of axiologically significant values. Religion as one of the forms of social and spiritual values is inextricably linked with the culture of the whole humanity and determines the peculiarities of thinking and world perception, outlook and mentality, social rules and lifestyle of different people united by one faith. Being an integral part of any culture, religion affects it in all its manifestations, including architecture (Pyramids, mosques, churches), sculpture (statues of Buddha, Olympic, Hindu and other gods), paintings (Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Da Vinci), music (Mozart’s Requiem, Schubert’s Ave Maria), science (Hermeneutics, Exegetics, Philosophy), literature: (Dante's «Divine Comedy», M. Bulgakov's «Master and Margarita» and etc.), 72 ethics: (etiquette forms, address); aesthetics: (behavior, rituals, clothing); cinematography: (Passions of Christ (2004), Odysseus (1997). The expansion of most religions would have been impossible without language as the main means of communication. The problem of language and religion is traced back to the history of linguistic researches that were conducted and developed first and foremost due to religious needs: Panini’s Book, Arabic linguistics, the Port-Royal Grammar, classical and semiotic philology, exegetics and hermeneutics, lexicography and translation studies and etc. The following religious demands stipulated the development of research in the field of language: 1) the need to explain the differences between the dead languages of sacred books and living languages; 2) the need for translation and interpretation of sacred books to spread religions throughout the world; 3) the use of cult languages in the territory where the particular religion dominated (e.g Vedic, Avestian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, Venyan, Old Slavic). So, the emergence of Theolinguistics is considered to be a logical result of comprehending the importance of the problem Language and Religion, which is currently studied from the standpoint of several approaches. In the process of critical analysis of different approaches, we have come to the conclusion that almost all researches done in the framework of Theolinguistics are aimed at investigating the problems of the «religious» language used in sacred texts and in the sphere of religious communication. In all the works, the phonetic, grammatical, lexical, stylistic features of the religious language are considered. In addition, these works are based on religious texts, mostly Christian. However, the religious world picture, in our deep conviction, is not limited to the sphere of religious communication and is widely represented both in the language system and in non- religious texts (literary, publicistic, newspaper, institutional, etc.), furthermore, in everyday communication. In this regard, there is an urgent need to single out another direction in Theolinguistics, namely, the direction aimed to study the reflection of mythological-religious consciousness in the linguistic world picture by the means of various linguistic units. Our research is done within the framework of this direction embracing a wide range of problems concerning the reflection of religion in the linguistic world picture. It should be stressed that the research is done on the basis of the achievements and methods of both traditional (Comparative Linguistics, Lexicology, Stylistics, Grammar, etc.) and new interdisciplinary linguistic disciplines (Cognitive Linguistics, Cultural Linguistics, Text linguistics, etc.).
