Annotation. Phraseology is a relatively new branch of linguistics. A phrase is embodied
as a whole semantic and grammatical unit consisting of more than one word belonging to
independent categories. The phrase serves to convey a lexical meaning. Accordingly, it is
considered a lexical unit and is thus placed on the same line as the word. One of the unique
features of phraseological units is the fact that the words in the composition form a whole and
unite into one meaning. In the following years, special attention is paid to the study of
phraseological units. Therefore, the study of this field of linguistics in secondary and higher
schools has become one of the urgent problems, but the semantic nature of phraseological units
in the Uzbek language has not yet been sufficiently studied.
