TEXT 8. ALFRED HITCHCOCK.
Alfred Hitchcock was born in London in 1899.
He got his first job in a film studio when he was a young man.
At the start of his career he made silent films in England and Germany.
He made a big impact when he directed Blackmail, which was Britain’s first sound film and a big success.
After directing several more popular films, he sailed to America.
He was soon one of Hollywood’s top directors and in 1956 he became an American citizen.
At the end of his long career he returned to Britain to make a film in London.
TEXT 9. A NEW FLAT
I woke up early on Saturday because I wanted to find a new place to live.
Before I left the house, I checked the newspaper and the internet.
I chose those four to look at because all the others were too expensive.
I found the address of four places I wanted to see.
The first one I saw was close to where I work but the kitchen was quite small.
The next three needed too many repairs and were not as close to my office.
As I didn’t need a big kitchen, I decided on the first place.
TEXT 10. TEAM TEACHING
Teachers teaching together can be enjoyable for both students and teachers.
Students will enjoy seeing another teacher’s classroom activities and learning from their experience.
Another teacher’s help can also reduce the time spent on preparing those activities.
While there are benefits to team teaching, there can be problems as well.
Working with another teacher who has a different teaching style might be difficult.
It could also be challenging to equally divide the work when marking assignments.
However, those problems can be fixed and team teaching can create a great learning environment.
TEXT.11 PROBLEM STUDENTS
Problem students are those naughty students who make a class difficult.
Some think they know everything, and spend lessons talking to their friends.
Then there are the ones who want their teacher’s attention and do what they can to get it.
These situations can cause either a positive or negative reaction in the teacher.
The teacher can try to solve problems by relating well with students.
This encourages the pupils to like the teacher and to follow the classroom rules.
The other response is being film with the student, so they will not want to break the rules.
