Surround yourself with people who care about you
It’s strange how the vibes you send out attract those kinds of people towards you. Friends that are negative, drag you down, and make you unhappy, are not really your friends, because they aren’t good for you. It’s so important to surround yourself with the kind of people that you want to be like. People who are positive, genuine, and have a healthy attitude towards life. This goes in hand with the law of attraction, as once you start attracting positive and good people into your life, you will already be content and have made progress. At the same time, remove people who are holding you back or spreading negativity, even if it is just through their attitude. You cannot give in to negativity as you recover. Having people who care about you can make porn far less appealing. Humans are social animals who are happier in a close-knit group of friends and family. People and places – environment matters This may mean completely changing your environment. Sometimes you need to make drastic changes. The environment can be a powerful invisible hand that alters how we act. During the Vietnam War, there was concern that there would be a heroin epidemic among servicemen when they returned to the US. High heroin abuse rates (around 15% of total US soldiers), exacerbated by the inexpensive supply and widespread consumption during the war, seemed to foreshadow a disaster, knowing how powerful and addictive the drug was. But for a large majority, when they came back, they were fine. This was because the soldiers were now back to a normal setting, out of an unfamiliar and extreme jungle environment where they had to fight and worry about survival. They returned to a normal lifestyle with family, away from other heroin users, where the drug was harder to access, and they were unwilling to face the consequences of taking the drug. Ultimately the heroin addiction in returning soldiers fell to a level close to that of the general population. A study in the late 70s focused on understanding addiction in rats, comparing the drug consumption behavior of rats in normal lab cages with rats living in Rat Park, a large happy housing colony with food, balls and wheels for play, and abundant space. The finding was that caged rats drank 19 times more morphine than the rats living in the Rat Park, suggesting that addiction is attributable to living conditions. Though details of the study are debated, a general takeaway is that having an enriching environment can help replace an addiction. If you are in an unhappy or stressful environment, do whatever you can to get out of it. In today’s world, there’s really nothing holding you back. Don’t be stuck in a job that’s making you miserable – you can be self-employed as an Uber driver or do anything if you want. If there is a place in your life that makes you happy for some reason, go there. Places around the world have different attitudes and effects on your mind. Often a smaller city or less urban environment will be helpful to counteract the forces (such as stress) that lead to such addictions. Think about the amazing and beautiful future ahead of you, where your potential is unlimited, and you can do anything and go anywhere. So many addicts have forgotten what true happiness is, what love feels like, what it means to be energetic or have a clear mind. Don’t trap yourself in one place – let your body be free. Once you experience a new environment, you will keep that attitude with you. Download 0.56 Mb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
