Practice eliminating any sexual thoughts as soon as you are aware of them
This is self-explanatory but important. Sexual thoughts only reinforce the negative behavior.
Be wary of negative changes in your thinking that may trigger relapse.
This may take a few tries before you are able to see real traction. As you get better at knocking down
sexual thoughts, you begin to have more control of your mind. Try not to hold in your pee or let any
urges grow. If you feel an urge building up, make a dramatic change in where you are or what you
are doing, as it is not ok to keep feeding an urge.
Thinking sexual thoughts makes you spend more time wallowing in a negative mindset. It sows a
poisonous seed in the mind, by encouraging masturbation later on. Just the thought in itself is
harmful.
Reduce dependency on electronic devices (or hide electronic devices)
Higher tech gadgets clearly do not make us happier. This may seem paradoxical to some, but it is
true. On average, the more time spent on social media, the more unhappy a given user is.
Many people are often over-connected and spend far too much of their lives staring into a screen. We
all know people who spend all their time looking at their phone. They probably don’t need it – very
little work gets done on phones. Leave your computer at work instead of giving yourself the chance
to watch porn on it. Limiting your electronic device consumption can even make you more
productive and deliberate when you actually get around to using it.
Get an old flip-phone if it helps you. This may sound daunting, until you try it out and realize you
have no need for any additional functionality. Be free of what you do not need. Reduce your
technological dependency, knowing that porn consumption is extremely tied to technology use. The
mental stimulation and image overloading that these devices provide is a gateway to porn.
Be willing to try these things out, even testing advice that may seem counterintuitive. Quitting porn
completely is an iterative process, requiring you to discover what approaches work best for you.
