It is shown that the training of personnel responsible for energy saving, electrical technologies and 
electrical equipment in agricultural enterprises is one of the most effective methods of energy saving and

increasing the energy efficiency of agricultural production. The paper presents the training methods in 
energy saving in agro-industrial complex. They were developed with due account of the previous experience 
of the Institute to organize seminars and qualification upgrading courses related to energy saving issues for 
the agricultural specialists within the period from 2003 to 2012 as well as the experience of national energy 
companies.
Special attention is given to the development of training programs. These programs should reflect the 
purpose of learning and take into account the specific features of energy saving and energy efficiency 
improvement measures on agricultural facilities, which differ in type and activity. Broad scope and 
mandatory character of professional training in energy saving is reflected in peculiar properties of teaching 
the educational programmes. Special attention is paid to the target audience analysis. The level of detail of 
such analysis depends on each case and its result is the professional portrait of a potential trainee, for whom 
the programme is designed.
To train an adult, who already has a specialty, in a little of everything is counterproductive. 
The resulting knowledge should correspond to the addressed problems so that at the stage of training a 
trainee could understand how to apply it in his workplace. Based on the experience of psychologists and 
teachers, specializing in peculiarities of teaching adults, the importance to motivate the agricultural 
specialists to acquire new professional knowledge and skills and to develop their professional career is 
considered. The motivational factor determines the presence or absence of commitment of agribusiness 
specialists to their professional development. The paper describes the existing training forms, methods, and 
tools. Taking into account the continuous production process in large-scale agricultural facilities the 
characteristics and prospects of distance learning of a number of agribusiness professionals are specified.
