Paris 1856. Elephant-folio. 91 x 68 cm. Illustrated with chromo- lithographs. Bound in original half calf, professionally restored. Housed in full cloth box. This important and rare book was given to the participants of Alexander II’s (1845-1894) coronation ceremony in 1856 and was only printed in 200 copies. It contains 52 illustrations: 19 full page chromo- lithographs and 33 in the text. The illustrations were mainly executed by the highly regarded artists M.A. Zitji (1827-1906) and V.F. Timm (1820-1895). Provenance: Varvara Heyd Hasselbalch, granddaughter of Von Plessen, who participated in the coronation and was given a copy of the work.
