08 Exam-Checklist Intro21 20211203 V02-pdf (2)

I know the different frames and frameworks that are relevant for teaching (on global, European, national and regional levels).

I am familiar with the CEFR, the “Bildungsstandards” and the curricula of my federal state.

I am aware of the particularities of adult education and in how far they differ from school contexts.

Adults learn differently than children. Whereas child-oriented learning is in the realm of pedagogy, learning in adulthood is under the purview of andragogy in a broad sense. Given the differences between adults and children, as well as their unique emotional baggage, life experiences, internal motivations, and cognitive traits, learning and training present unique problems for most individuals. These are the most frequent challenges, or learning obstacles, that adult learners often face and which might impede them from attempting new things, developing new abilities, and learning new things. We'll discuss adult learning challenges in the context of workplace training, which accounts for the majority of adult learning.

Children

Adults

Child-oriented learning provides a basic foundation of knowledge and helps develop critical thinking skills.

Adults have an existing base of knowledge and life experience. They seek out continuous learning based on personal interests, wants, and needs.

Children typically have no choice but to study and may lose enthusiasm if they are not engaged
in what is happening around them.

Adults understand why they’re learning, so their motivation levels are naturally high.

It’s necessary to be in charge of the classroom.

It’s beneficial to let adults work things out for themselves and organize themselves.

Teachers play a central role in delivering knowledge and guiding learning activities.

The role of “teacher” may be effectively filled by a mentor, coach, training facilitator, peer, or subject matter expert.
