Source: Income and Employment data are computed from Central Statistical Office and NSSO
respectively.
According to the 66th round data of the NSSO, in the year 2009–10 almost 21.18
million jobs were lost in the agriculture and allied sector, which contributed `78,216
crore (at 1999–00 prices) to agricultural output compared to 2004–05 period where
almost 18 million jobs were added which contributed `36,565 crore. This suggests the
growth of agricultural output increased from 1.5 per cent during 2004–05 to 3.05 per
cent in 2009–10, where the growth of employment has declined from 1.47 per cent in
2004–05 to -1.72 per cent in 2009–10 (see Table 1).
