know each other better using phra-
ses of greeting
Time: 10 min
Materials: None

e.g.


  • Hello, how are you?

  • Hi, I am fine. How are you doing?

  • Very fine thanks.

  • My name is Lola. What is your name?

  • My name is Aziz.

  • Nice to meet you

  • Pleased to meet you too

After 3 minutes ask participants to take their seats. Invite teachers to tell all the phrases of greetings they used while greeting each other. Put their examples on the board.
Possible answers:
Hello Hi Good morning Good day Good afternoon How are you? Nice to meet you. How are you doing? Hey How do you do? Pleased to meet you
Ask participants to categorize the given options of greetings according to formal and informal. Mark F if formal or mark I if informal on the board.
