§2.2. Description of the method and activities in teaching Pronunciation


This section contains some exercises for teaching novices how to pronounce words correctly.
These activities are divided into four categories: (a) syllable identification and stress; (b) auditory, visual, and kinesthetic signals; (c) total physical response; and (d) songs.
In Activity 1 there is used singing song activity as a warm up. Using English songs to engage beginner English learners in the repeating of new sounds, as well as the study of new vocabulary and grammatical structures, is a fun method to learn. Choose a song that is suited for your situation.
Consider the age, interests, and degree of expertise of your students. You have the option of selecting a song for its subject, melodic simplicity, and lyrical phrases and structuresyour access to a recorded model (e.g., an audio file or a video) or the repeated noises , video clip) or the capacity to perform the song on your own.
In music, a beat is the basic pulse, similar to when you tap your foot to the beat. A long beat takes longer to play, while a short beat takes less time to play.
