THE IMPACT OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY ON STUDENTS’
EDUCATION PROCESS

Isaeva Donokhon Anvarovna,

rd
year student of National
University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek

Annotation: this work is concerned about the main influence of modern
technology to the education system and students' learning process. We discuss both
negative and positive sides of cutting-edge technology. Students' attention spans,
interests in the subjects they are studying, and progress may all be seen as a result
of technology use. The most obvious effect of technology on education is the rise
in motivation and involvement among students. Thus, in the work these particular
points and issues will be discussed respectively.
Key words: ubiquitous, technology, learning process, involvement, motivation,
non-academic activities.
In modern world, technology is ubiquitous. We use it in every aspect of our
lives, whether we want to communicate, teach or study. Technologies simplify
many complicated tasks where we would struggle almost a century ago. The usage
of technologies has also spread in the field of education. Therefore, it is no surprise
that technology is also having a significant impact on learning processes of
students. It made, both teaching and learning process more enjoyable and
interactive. Students' attention spans, interests in the subjects they are studying,
and progress may all be seen as a result of technology use. The most obvious effect
of technology on education is the rise in motivation and involvement among
students. When students are interested in what they are learning, they are more
likely to pay attention, remember what they were taught, and perform much better.
There are several ways that technology can aid to increase student involvement.

83
Students can use interactive whiteboards to explore new ideas, make presentations,
and take part in group activities. Additionally, they can learn about various
subjects in a fun and interesting way through simulations and games. technology
can personalize teaching. For instance, students can obtain individualized training
and feedback using online learning systems. Therefore, with the use of technology,
they can produce their own teaching tools like digital portfolios and
presentations.[1] Innovative technology can also increase accessibility to
education. It is true that children with impairments have the same access to
educational opportunities as their peers thanks to technology. Even if students are
unable to attend school in person, they can still collaborate with their peers and
teachers
through
technology.
According
to
R.
Raja
and
P.
C.
Nagasubramani(2018), knowledge transfer becomes very simple, practical, and
efficient with the usage of technologies. This indicates that, in every area of life
including schooling, our minds now tend to function more quickly when supported
by modern technology.[7, 33]
Firstly, technology can increase the relevance of learning to students' daily
life. Students can utilize technology, for instance, to explore their interests, learn
about current events, and interact with other students around the globe. Sharing
their knowledge through social media or other platforms has become common and
popular among young generation. Furthermore, technology could boost the fun of
learning. Reading books, listening to lectures, and taking notes were the traditional
methods of education. Students today have a lot of knowledge at their hands. They
have access to articles, podcasts, and videos on any subject they are interested in.
Students are free to choose how and at what pace they want to learn. Nevertheless,
there may be some negative effects of technology use in the classroom. For
instance, students could feel pressured to put off work or utilize technology for
non-academic activities. Being surrounded by distractions may make it difficult for
certain students to concentrate on their job. To illustrate, China has pioneered the
use of artificial intelligence (AI) in schools and has put a variety of AI-based
technologies into place to improve education. It attempts to deliver individualized

84
and immersive learning experiences, increase the effectiveness of instruction, and
raise student accomplishment. But there are also ethical, prejudice, and data
privacy problems with regard to using AI in teaching. Therefore, the use of
technology in the classroom has advantages and disadvantages at the same time.
[3] Due to expanded availability of information, the access to a multitude of
knowledge and data is one of the technology's biggest advantages for students.
Before, students could only access the knowledge found in books, newspapers, and
periodicals. These days, they have access to information from many other places,
such as websites, blogs, videos, and podcasts. Next, the increased cooperation of
students throughout their learning process. Especially, when students can
collaborate with one another using Information and Communications
Technology(ICT). In the past, students who wished to work together on a project
had to arrange a meeting in person or correspond by letter. However, in present,
people can work together in real time using programs and applications, such as
Imo, Skype, and Zoom. Researchers have discovered that using ICT often
promotes greater cooperation among students both within and outside of the
classroom, as well as a more engaged relationship between students and teachers
(Grégoire et al., 1996). Today's technology makes it possible to design
individualized educational programs that are specific to the requirements of each
student. Students who receive this tailored instruction may learn more quickly and
to the fullest extent possible.[4, 75] With more opportunities during teaching
process it results in greater curiosity by students. Technology can support greater
student participation. Students used to get bored in class rather frequently. Also,
there are many programs which will automatically check in for student’s
attendance. This will also act as a motivation for the students who are inactive
during their semester. The usage of ICT also enhances students’ communication
abilities by making them socialize with each other before and after school. Before,
students could only communicate in person with their teachers and peers. They can
now contact with one another via video chat, social media, and email. With more
communication, learners speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities can

85
improve drastically. The most distinguishing feature of modern technologies is the
improved ability to solve problems by students. Their ability to solve problems can
also be helped by technology during their search for more information on online
platforms. Students previously had no choice but to solve issues the old-fashioned
way, through trial and error. They can now work with others and access
information using technology to more effectively solve challenges. Students'
success in school and at work can be aided by their enhanced problem-solving
abilities. However, on the flip side of the coin, students may start cheating on the
examination process while using modern technologies, devices and programs. The
notorious feature of modern technologies is the distraction of students in classes by
social media or other ICT, which results in their lack of focus. Thus, it usually
results in conflict between the teacher and the student, and it will interfere with the
learning process.[5, 41]
To conclude, technology has both positive and negative contribution at the
same time. Hence, teachers and students must take an advantage of ICT and try to
suppress the disadvantages and obstacles which may affect their learning process
and deteriorate the students’ performance. We must pay attention to how we are
using the technologies in present, so that we could make this process better in the
future, for the future generations as well.
