Past Continuous+ while+ Past Continuous


e.g. My mother was cooking dinner while I was reading a book.
5. Ma’lum bir chegaralangan vaqt kesmasida davom etgan ish-harakat.
Signal so’zlar: from… till; from…to
e.g. I was reading a book from 5 till 7 o’clock.


Past Simple and Past continuous

Ba’zi paytlarda agar ko’rsatilgan davr oralig’i uzunroq bo’lsa, Past Continuous o’rniga Past Simple ishlatiladi. e.g. I tried to learn several foreign languages when I studied at University.(was studying emas).

Har doim ham aniq vaqt ko’rsatilganda Past Continuous ishlatilmaydi. Mazmunga qarab Past simple ham ishlatiladi. e.g. He went to sleep at 9 o’clock (ish-harat boshlangan payt ko’rsatildi) He was sleeping at 10 o’clock (davom etgan ish-harakat)

Affirmative: I had finished my work by 5 o’clock

Interrogative: Had I finished my work by 5 o’clock?

Negative: I hadn’t finished my work by 5 o’clock.
